Alina Film was set up in 2008 at Geneva by Eugenia Mumenthaler and David Epiney. It specializes in art-house films, features, and international co-productions.
Their first feature film «Abrir puertas y ventanas», by Milagros Mumenthaler, won the Pardo d'oro as well as the Pardo for best actress and Fipresci Prize at Locarno 2011 and the Astor d'oro at Mar del Plata film festival.
Their documentary «The Laundry room», Floriane Devigne and Fred Florey won the Grand Prize SSR SRG at Visions du Réel 2014 (International compétition), and «A german youth» by Jean-Gabriel Périot opened the Panorama competition at Berlinale 2015
They present «La idea de un lago», by Milagros Mumenthaler in International competition in Locarno 2016, and Olga Baillif's first feature «Around Luisa» is presented in Competition at Mostra International Sao Paulo film festival in octobre 2017.

In 2020, Luis López Carrasco's "The Year of Discovery" made its world premiere in the Tiger Awards competition at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and won the Grand Prix Cinéma du Réel, as well as the Astor de Oro at the Mar del Plata Film Festival, and two Goyas.
In 2021, "Azor" by Andreas Fontana premiered in the Encounters section of Berlinale, and was presented in competition at the New Directors / New Films at the Lincoln Center in New York, at the San Sebastian Festival, London BFI and was nominated for the Gotham Awards.


In 2022-23, Elena López Riera's “El Agua” was selected for the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes.
Toronto and San Sebastian, Jean-Gabriel Périot's “Facing Darkness” premiered at Karlovy Vary and IDFA, and the two parts of Sylvain George's “Nuit Obscure” were selected for the Locarno Festival, winning a Special Mention from the Jury.
In 2024, Elena López Riera's medium-length film “Southern brides” is presented in a special screening at the Cannes Critics' Week, winning the Queer Palm. Denise Fernandes' film “Hanami” premiered at the Locarno Festival in the Cinéastes du présent section, Spanish director Carlos Marques Marcet's “Polvo serán” was in the Toronto Festival's Platform competition, and Manu Laskar's “Le médium”, starring Louise Bourgoin and Noémie Lvovski, was released in France and Switzerland.


They are regularly invited for various Juries (President of the «Horizontes Latinos» Jury in San Sebastian, Visions du Réel, l’Alternativa, Gijón, etc.) and as project experts (Ikusmira Berriak Residence in San Sebastian, Màrgenes, Cinéforom...).

They are members of EAVE, Producers on the move, European Film Academy, Swiss film Academy, GARP, etc.


Eugenia Mumenthaler, got a mastery in Anthropology and a Master in cultural managment and policy. She works in the Etnography museum in Geneva and for several film festivals (Sitges, Filmets, Xinacitta).

David Epiney, got an education in drawing and animation films. He first worked as a graphic designer at Atelier Pfund in Geneva and directed several animation films.
